Online tax filing sequence: the taxpayer logs in to the tax portal with their PAN, the portal fetches pre-filled data (salary from Form 16, TDS, interest from banks), the taxpayer reviews and adds deductions, the computation engine calculates tax; if tax is due, the taxpayer pays via the bank challan service, then submits the return and e-verifies it with an Aadhaar OTP, and gets an acknowledgement. Refunds are processed later.
