Flight booking sequence: the traveller searches flights, the booking service queries the GDS (Amadeus) for fares across airlines, the traveller picks a flight and the fare is re-priced and a PNR is created with a time-limited hold, the traveller enters passenger details and pays through the payment gateway, then the booking service asks the GDS to issue the e-ticket and emails it to the traveller.
