An integrated emergency response system like India's 112: calls, SMS and panic-app alerts reach one centre, which dispatches the nearest police, fire or ambulance unit.

Emergency response system: citizens reach the centre by 112 call, SMS or a panic button app. A telephony platform routes calls to call-takers, and a location service gets the caller's position from the mobile network and phone GPS. Call-takers create incidents in the computer-aided dispatch (CAD) system. Dispatchers see vehicles on a GIS map via GPS trackers and assign the nearest police, fire or ambulance unit, which receives the job on a mobile data terminal.

The states of an emergency incident in a dispatch system, from first call to closure, including duplicate calls about the same event.
How warnings for cyclones, floods and earthquakes reach people: sensor and forecast data, a decision by the authority, and cell broadcast, SMS and sirens to the affected area.
How an online police complaint is handled: registration, assignment to the right police station, investigation and updates to the complainant.
How fire stations, the control room and fire engines stay connected, with radio as the main link and mobile data as a backup.
Where a city surveillance system runs: cameras at junctions, local recorders, a central video management system and analytics that raise alerts in the command centre.
