What happens when a viewer presses play: entitlement check, DRM licence, CDN manifest and adaptive bitrate streaming.
Drawing diagram…
OTT playback sequence: the viewer presses play in the app. The playback API checks the user's subscription entitlement and returns a signed manifest URL. The player fetches the HLS/DASH manifest and video segments from the CDN, requests a DRM licence (Widevine/FairPlay) from the licence server, and adapts bitrate to bandwidth. Heartbeat events go to an analytics service for resume points, recommendations and quality monitoring.

endAn OTT streaming service like a Netflix-style app: user apps, catalog and entitlement services, DRM, and delivery through a CDN.
How an uploaded master video becomes adaptive streams: ingest, quality checks, transcoding into several resolutions, packaging, DRM and publishing.
How an article or video moves through a newsroom or media house: drafting, editing, legal review, scheduling and publishing across channels.
How a metered paywall works on a news or streaming site: free article count, the paywall, subscription purchase and entitlement.
How a live sports or concert stream reaches millions: venue encoders, cloud ingest and transcoding, packaging, and multi-CDN delivery.
A database schema for an OTT catalog: titles, seasons, episodes, people, genres, media assets and regional availability.
